We have been brain washed by advertisements, marketing, and boom times (where we are convinced that “money grows on trees”) to believe that the best things in life have to cost the most. We have been jaded to think that the more expensive something is, the better it must be. We chase brand names, current fashions, and latest technology only to find that as soon as we think we have the hippest and greatest, it’s onto the next thing, resulting in spending more money.
I find that nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I believe the best things in life are free. As an investment advisor and CPA at Capital Investment Advisors, I believe it is important to counsel and advise clients as it relates to their spending habits. The best spending habit is to not spend at all. Don’t get me wrong, I like the finer things in life. But you don’t have to spend the most or anything at all, to have these finer things. You will be amazed to discover what is available in this world for absolutely free.
