Woody Alpern is the co-founder and partner in both Capital Investment Advisors and Capital Benefits Administration, Inc. Alpern is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and before becoming a real estate executive, he focused on pension retirement plan administration and related issues.
Alpern graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. His post graduate studies continued at The University of South Carolina, where he graduated with honors and received a Masters Degree in accounting (emphasis Taxation) in 1987. He began his professional career with the accounting firm Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche). He worked for 8 years in the tax division specializing in pension planning and administration. Woody then went on and partnered with Michael Reiner to form his own pension administration and investment management firms.
Woody’s roles in Capital Investment Advisors include advising clients on tax issues, personal finance and investing, and real estate. Woody is a CPA, a Registered Investment Advisor and a licensed Life and Health insurance agent. He is a member of the AICPA and The Georgia Society of CPAs. Woody has taught financial accounting for three years at Georgia Perimeter College, and has been the lecturer of many personal finance and tax related classes and lectures with Mike Kavanagh, the Host of The Money Matters radio show. He also co-hosted the financial talk radio show, Money Time, for three years on CNN radio, and is a regularly guest on the award winning, longest financial talk radio show, Money Matters, which airs on WSB 750am radio every Sunday morning from 9am to 11am. Woody has also written and circulated numerous financial related newsletters and other consumer related articles as part of his “Woody’s Goodies” series. These useful tips and guides on a vast variety of financial related topics have been extremely well received by thousands of clients and non-client subscribers for over 10 years.
Woody is also the creator and founder of whybuy.com. In his free time, Woody enjoys traveling the world, karate, snow skiing, exercising and spending time on Lake Lanier. He also enjoys spending time with his wife Amy and his two daughters, Hallie and Joeli.
